FIFE COUNCIL GOT US STARTED!

The Group called “Beautiful Kilconquhar” was formed in 2009 and took part in the new Beautiful Fife campaign. Its criteria include floral enhancement, environmental responsibility and community participation.

A grant was received from Celebrating Fife 2010 for hosting an exhibition, 'Kilconquhar Past, Present, Future'. We displayed old photographs, items of interest and various document and a film of the old steam railway through Fife and material from Fife Council regarding care of our village and environment. The exhibition was well attended and was deemed a great success. The community participation and support from many other people was huge and we were encouraged to receive so many contributions. Since then we have entered both the Beautiful Fife and Beautiful Scotland campaigns.

This community interest and further support enabled our Group to obtain items for our book "Kilconquhar A Hidden Gem" which is an account of past life in the village with recollections an many photographs . We were pleased to receive a great deal of help not only with maintaining our heritage as well floral enhancement and our environment. We were grateful to receive financial help from Fife Council.

Kilconquhar has won awards from Beautiful Fife and Beautiful Scotland, the last in 2011 for the Best Wee Village in Fife and Scotland.
